The CR515 Acoustic Calibrator meets ANSI S1.40:2006 and IEC 60942:2003 to Class 1, the more accurate grade. It is most suited to the Class 1 sound level meters and environmental noise monitors that NoiseMeters offers.
This calibrator is included in most of the Class 1 Noise Measurement Kits and Outdoor Noise Kits, along with the sound level meter, carrying case and software where applicable. Please refer to the sound level meter web pages for more information.
As soon as the calibrator is switched on it emits a 1 kHz tone at 94 dB. The calibrator should be pushed carefully (firmly, but slowly) on to the microphone capsule.
The meter should now be adjusted accordingly. There will often be a free-field adjustment to make for the microphone in use. So, for example, you may actually be adjusting to 93.8 dB on the meter. For meters provided by NoiseMeters this is either dealt with automatically by the meter, or is covered in the meter's User Manual.
